After a career in graphic design, I rediscovered sculpting in 2007 with a piece of soapstone my wife gave me as a gift. I carve softer stones; soapstone, serpentine, alabaster, cola and African wonderstone. My subjects are mainly Canadian wildlife, reflecting my love of nature. Some the ideas some quickly, with the shape of the stone providing inspiration. I like to use as much of the stone as possible. I believe the Inuit carvers who say the finished piece is in the stone, waiting to be revealed.
