After a career in graphic design, I rediscovered my love of sculpting with a piece of soapstone given to me as a gift from my wife. I carve softer stones; soapstone, serpentine, alabaster, cola and African wonderstone. My subjects are mainly Canadian wildlife, reflecting my love of animals and nature. The shape of the stone often inspires the subject I choose to carve. I like to use as much of the stone as possible and I agree with the Inuit carvers who say the finished piece is in the stone, waiting to be revealed.
