What started out as a a fun activity taking pottery lessons at a community centre has turned out to be a career of 25 years of creating in clay. Clay is an incredible medium, it has endless possibilities, I still feel like I haven’t touched sides with what can be made from this wonderful material. I’m still in awe that clay when subject to heat turns into a hard stone-like material that will be around for so many years.
My work for the most part has been functional, but I also use clay as a canvas to create clay tile paintings. I like to combine printmaking techniques with clay techniques, the marriage of these two techniques enables me to create work that can be incorporated into a functional product and is at the same time a beautiful work of art.
