Owen Dixon of Burn Island produces hand cut sculptures and fabrication projects from salvaged metal objects. The abandoned steel objects are turned into artworks that deal with the questions of the past and layered histories of the objects. The cutting patterns and motifs also have historical references – most of them are inspired by the designs by William Morris of the late 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement.
Before studying Fine Arts and Sculpture at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Owen attended a welding school.
